Your online presence – When to ask for help
No matter how big or small your company is, running a business is a large task. It can be overwhelming at times. No one person can do everything, and depending on your business’s structure, you may or may not have a team established to cover all of your specialized needs. When should you ask for help with your online presence?
Accounting experts meet online presence experts.
In our business, we’re pretty familiar with technology and the internet, its kind of our thing. So we take care of most of our IT stuff ourselves. However, we are not very familiar with the world of accounting. We try to handle as much of the basic stuff on our own as we can, but there are times that it simply takes too much time and effort to put together all of the accounting and bookkeeping pieces. And even after all of the pieces are together, there’s no guarantee that we’ve assembled them all correctly.
This is the very reason that we reached out and hired a certified public accountant. In the same way that we know tech, she knows accounting—it’s her thing.
It’s just as important to know where your weaknesses are as a business as it is to know your strengths.
We know that we simply don’t know enough about accounting to do all of our financials ourselves. Theoretically, we could take the time to learn the ins and outs, but at the end of the day, we’re web developers and designers—not accountants. We’d much rather spend that time helping our clients and growing and developing our business.
So when should you ask for help with your website, digital marketing, or online presence?
The answer depends on you and your business. If you run or are part of a digital marketing agency yourself, or you are extremely familiar with the ins and outs of web design, you may not need much help with your online presence (although, there’s absolutely no shame in asking for help in your own industry). But if you do anything else, there’s a very good chance that some form of help with digital marketing could do you and your business some good.
If you’re looking to increase profitability, one of the first places to look is digital marketing. It has massive reach, and the return on investment is incredibly high compared to other forms of advertising. There’s a lot more to your online presence than just your website or social media.
In addition to providing expertise in developing your online presence, there’s a lot of value in having some help from the outside to help put things in perspective. When you’re constantly working in your business, sometimes it’s hard to take a step back and see the big picture. Working with a digital agency can help you figure out what approach is best for you to take.
Ultimately, your online presence should work in tandem with your other marketing efforts to create a cohesive message that conveys the value that your business provides.
If that’s not happening, it may be time to ask for help.
